activism and volunteering

Marching to the beat of your own drum
Even as a child, Kim stood up for what she believed in. In Fifth grade, she sent a colorful letter to the President, protesting a television show depicting a character throwing a cat in the dryer. Weeks later, she received a reply encouraging her activism – even though the show remained on air.

At the University of Iowa, Kim began volunteering. She worked with the Hancher Advisory Board, The James Gang, and the Iowa Children’s Museum. One of her most memorable projects was working as the Assistant Director of Event Production with The 10,000 Hours Show for 10K2 and 10K3. After graduating, she became involved with environmental issues and worked as the Director of Earth Expo.

Now in New York, she continues to volunteer with New York Cares. She is a team leader for Art Explorers, an innovative program that uses art projects to promote positive self-esteem, team building, communication skills and social awareness. Her projects also encourage environmentalism.

Kim also serves on the Board of Directors for the Greenwich Village Singers working on marketing and publicity.
