no matter what the season, this snuggle bug is always adorable!

…is so, gosh darn beautiful

the other night there was a huge harvest moon in the sky. I ran home as fast as my legs could take me (while carrying a big chalkboard that was up for grabs from the office – SWEET!) with hopes of getting to the roof to take photos.

Of course, I missed it at it’s peak, when it was right above the street. It looked like a huge orange ball in the sky and across the way was it’s sister sun saying goodnight. Since they were almost on the same plane, it was as if they were two guards passing one another between shifts of protecting the sky. I’m sure it would have been breathtaking from an aerial view.

Since I can’t fly (although, that would be an awesome super power), I got as close as I could. The roof.

p.s. RIP beautiful tree from my block (not pictured above). I will miss smelling the flowers and reaching up to feel your pretty leaves.

p.p.s. I admit it, I was one of those people walking around the park after the storm…not the smartest idea in the world, but I couldn’t stay cooped up any longer! 

p.p.p.s. Times Square now has Crumbs … sweeeeet! (although, Butter Lane cupcakes are still the best)

our backyard used to have a pool, now it’s just a sandpit for us to throw our cherry seeds from the kitchen window.

The rest of the day consisted of wandering the boardwalk, lots of umbrellas, kites, ride observing, people watching and dining at a Russian restaurant. I also did some “volunteering” this weekend, which is quite different from what I normally do. We went to a sideshow where I participated in an act. I sat in an electric chair and had a light bulb and torch lit off my tongue! While I have no photos, I can tell you that I DID feel a spark when she lit the torch!

Coney Island is a blast. 

Walking along this loud street, it’s hard to imagine finding serenity. But the other night, I found it.

It hung in the air as I walked towards the sunset to Bedford. It glowed on the buildings with birds enjoying the last bit of sun before the night fall. It was on the lights of the scaffolding near a construction site. It was with the single red balloon floating through the sky.

It was…there.

And it was peaceful. And I realized, so was I.

I always wonder how shoes get to these wires. I imagine great stories are behind them.

Goodbye June. I welcome July with it’s heat and lazy beach days.

but it’s no reason to stay inside.

the moon and a meowing cat in heat (no seriously) were a perfect recipe for a midnight walk along industrial bridges and buildings.

and after the walk. i felt better. i mean, how could i not laugh after imagining ninjas coming out to protect these abandoned buildings?

i realized that no matter how much i wished i could stop feeling. how i wished i could change myself to be less of an emotional being.

i couldn’t.
it was pointless.

so we learn to accept things. even if they are beyond our control. and even if we hate them.

and we try, so, so, soooo hard to remember love.

i love this little garden on my way to the train.

i just wish there wasn’t a locked fence, but that doesn’t stop me from taking photos.

if i see a pretty flower begging for attention, you’ll find me reaching over the fence to take it’s photo or just looking through the fence.
