Currently loving this new video by Vanessa Carlton. So pretty.
Also, Grooveshark is no more (which really IS better for the artists, but I just liked making the playlists!), but apologies in advance for all broken playlists throughout the site.

“In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you.”

“I hope you will have a wonderful year, that you'll dream dangerously and outrageously, that you'll make something that didn't exist before you made it, that you will be loved and that you will be liked, and that you will have people to love and to like in return. And, most importantly (because I think there should be more kindness and more wisdom in the world right now), that you will, when you need to be, be wise, and that you will always be kind.” ― Neil Gaiman
sometimes everything to think has already been thought and everything to be said has already been said. thankfully, the interwebs makes it easy to go through the stacks of words and you find thoughts in beautifully stitched sentences ready to share. i've been riding the wave of winter blues. it's not terribly fun, but it will pass. one molecule at a time. i hope you all had a happy new year. here's to 2013. ❤
Night falls quicker. Boots are worn. Hot chai instead of cold. Soon there will be day trips taken upstate to see the changing leaves. This new album is a wonderful way to welcome the shift in season. I have so many good things I say about it, but just listen for yourselves. <3
Hello July,Summer is here. Summer is hot. The kitties sleep on their back with their bellies in the air.We have many fun plans this month, including a day of berry picking and running through wildflowers. Mischief will be made at this year's MP3 experiment and we will enjoy the rooftop with our French friends. The guitar will be re-strung with attempts to play at an open mic.July means beach days, clear skies and puffy clouds. The sky will shift and the greens will begin to fade ever-so-slightly. This will stir some feelings, but we will enjoy the moments because we are learning to live with change.
The last few days of May were fun, really fun. Lots of time with amazing friends - the garden is in full bloom! There was a late-night-birthday-dance-off and binges of watching superhero movies while making funfetti cookies (which make a delicious breakfast). A stolen shirt from a cute boy keeps us warm in an air conditioned office. And now onto June...the time of year where everything after work seems golden. The buildings glow and the sky changes from blue to pink to fire orange and on... the sun is so pretty. Please bring more sunshine and less rain. We certainly don't want it like the summer of rain a few years back, although we do love playing in the rain.June 21 will bring the longest day of the year and our friend will visit his childhood home of Columbia. We are ecstatic for him! This month will also bring a trip to the cornland, with a much needed reunion with some of our favorite people in the world. It's been far too long. There will be tears and hugs and cheers. Yay love and weddings! We will finally get to play in the dirt, now that we've made contact with the community garden owner. It's going to be a good summer.
Hello March,I noticed the crocuses starting to come up. Little yellow buds perking their little heads up out of a planter.I heard that it's going to be nearly 68 tomorrow! Snow on Halloween, summer weather in March - no biggie. riiiight.Wednesday nights have been spent singing Brahms in prepration for the concert. We'll visit with a college roommate who once covered the entire apartment in yarn, making it a maze to walk through as she sat contently reading a magazine. The annual Oklahoma trip will be postponed, due to many weddings this summer. (yeah love!)We'll spring forward. The longer days are coming. The kitty is still cute and we love music.
I can't believe it's November.Soon it will be 2012.!?!?!This month usually brings me a little down, but this month I choose happiness. But if that sadness perks it's head up, I'll let it flow through me because I know that it will pass. That those uncomfortable feelings and loss will ebb and flow and that I'll be alright.and music always mends the soul...*direct link*
"We can never know what to want, because, living only one life, we can neither compare it with our previous lives nor perfect it in our lives to come." - Milan Kundera, The Unbearable Lightness of BeingSometimes people say things to us that make us see things with a different lens. All of a sudden light is shed on things you defended or ignored. But it's freeing in a way. It releases the harsh emotions and ill-willed thoughts. You're able to take a breath and say "okay, I get it now." And so you keep moving. Forward, forward, forward. With all of your might. To the things that matter most. A simple realization can bring the lightness back into your step. It helps you laugh and smile. And despite feeling burdened by rejection, you realize serenity comes only from things you can control. That self-love matters most. So, with Kundera in mind if this is the one life I know, I might as well keep doing what I'm doing. I don't know that I'll always get it right, but at least I'm living. And I'm going to chose wisely. Next time around, I'll remember these signs and will protect my heart. But my intentions will remain full of love. Even for those that have hurt me. Even for those things that irritate me (that person that threw their trash on the ground and walked in front of me).Remember compassion. Remain mindful. Remain me.With that, I'm giving myself a little break from this reflection and will enjoy this summer. And what's summer without good music? I am totally loving these bands right now, plus the new Bon Iver (not on this list though) is awesome. Have a wonderful weekend. xoxo
